JCC Introduces Cutting-Edge Fiber Optic Training
Johnston Community College (JCC) is collaborating with Corning Incorporated, a global leader in fiber optics, to deliver an expert-led Train-the-Trainer Fiber Optic Technician Course. As the nation faces a critical demand for broadband expansion, JCC is preparing a new generation of skilled fiber broadband technicians and our faculty will be on the front lines of this transformational training.
Members of the media are invited to attend the training session to see firsthand how we are closing the workforce gap in broadband infrastructure and to conduct interviews with JCC faculty as well as the trainers.
We are in a pivotal era for digital infrastructure. With billions in federal and private investment flowing into broadband expansion, including right here in Johnston County, there is unprecedented demand for trained fiber optic technicians. Corning’s Fiber Broadband Training Program addresses this challenge by equipping learners with the hands-on skills needed to design, deploy, splice, test, and maintain fiber networks.
Through this Train-the-Trainer model, JCC faculty will gain advanced certification to teach these crucial technical skills to students in Johnston County — fueling careers and expanding broadband access in underserved communities.
Corning’s five-day Fiber Broadband Technician (CFBT) course delivers industry-grade education including:
- Optical fiber network design
- Hands-on splicing and termination
- Field construction and deployment
- Testing and system turn-up
