JOCO WORKS PRO is a high-impact professional development summit designed to transition 10th-grade students from the classroom to the professional world. Held annually in February, this half-day experience serves as the essential bridge between education and future work-based learning opportunities.
For many participants, JOCO WORKS PRO is their first experience in a professional conference setting — providing a sophisticated environment where they can build confidence and professional agency.
The PRO Experience
The morning begins with an energizing keynote speaker, followed by a series of immersive workshops designed to equip students with the “soft skills” that modern employers demand.
Students engage in comprehensive training across five key pillars:
Interviewing Excellence: Real-world techniques to stand out to recruiters.
Networking & The Elevator Pitch: Mastering the art of professional introduction.
Workplace Best Practices: Understanding the nuances of professional culture.
Digital Media Boundaries: Navigating a professional online presence.
Self-Empowerment: Cultivating the confidence to lead and succeed.
Bridging the Gap: Career in a Year Beyond the workshops, students participate in a specialized “Career in a Year” Mini-College Fair. Hosted in partnership with Johnston Community College, this session highlights high-demand certification programs and fast-track pathways that allow students to move from education to a career in 12 months or less.
